01 / UNDERSTAND THE SHAPE
The short head lets you work close to the painting surface with small touches, placing individual accents deliberately.
This small shape suits localised details. Load it sparingly and check the tip before each important accent.
The synthetic tip suits detail work in acrylics and oils. In watercolour, its main use is for small, individual accents.
02 / YOUR SIZE
The short pointed head is intended for small touches. Match the paint load to each accent and test the mark before using it in your picture.
Size 5/0 with a 1.5 mm head for highlights, small accents and short corrections.
The millimetre measurement describes the head size. Your painted mark results from angle, pressure, paint load and surface.
03 / FROM TOOL TO MARK
For small details, paint load and a steady hand matter. Work with the tip and keep pressure light enough to avoid splaying the head unnecessarily.
Pick up paint on the front of the head. A test dab shows whether it releases cleanly from the tip.
Place the point with a short touch. Lift off before the small accent becomes an area of colour.
Look at the subject between accents. Switch to a liner when you need a longer line.

04 / IN THE STUDIO
A dark area gains interest from a few light touches. Try several small dots on a spare piece first, then decide where your subject needs an accent. The studio lesson shows the spotter making small details and highlights.

A different task, a different shape. These three models complement your brush and expand your possibilities.
06 / GOOD TO KNOW
The short head is best suited to individual details and short accents. For a long, continuous line, the liner brush 4621 offers a more suitable head shape.
The millimetre measurement describes the brush head. The size of a dot or stroke depends on paint load, consistency, contact and pressure.
Fleury lists only limited watercolour use for this series, mainly for small accents. For wetter strokes and larger watercolour areas, the round brush 4401 or oval wash brush 4442 are more natural choices.
A heavily loaded tip, very thick paint or excessive pressure can widen the mark. Pick up less paint, check its consistency and begin with a light test dab.
