2.10 m wide canvas for your chosen sizes
When your painting calls for more width, this approx. 2.10 m wide canvas roll gives you room to plan your cuts. Prepare one large painting or several smaller works, using the 18 m length to suit your needs. The white cotton fabric provides a primed, medium-textured surface for oil and acrylic paints.
- More room for your cuts: Approx. 2.10 m in width and 18 m in length give you room for different canvas sizes. Include the extra fabric needed for stretching when planning each cut.
- Cotton with a medium texture: The fabric is made from 100% cotton and has a weight of 280 g/m².
- Already primed: The white surface is double primed with acrylic gesso, has low absorbency and is suitable for oil and acrylic paints.
Material: 100% cotton, 280 g/m² · Surface: White, medium texture, two coats of acrylic gesso · Roll size: Approx. 2.10 m × 18 m
A closer look at the fabric
This canvas combines 100% cotton with a medium texture. Its white surface is double primed with universal acrylic gesso and has low absorbency. The fabric weight is 280 g/m².
This is unstretched canvas fabric on a full roll, rather than a ready-stretched canvas. Plan each cut around your stretcher frame, allowing for the frame depth and enough extra fabric to wrap around and fasten at the back.
A painting surface for oils and acrylics
The primed fabric is suitable for oil and acrylic paints. Stretch it onto a suitable frame and build up your painting on the white, medium-textured surface.
If you have a particular surface effect in mind or want to apply an additional primer, try your chosen layers on an offcut first. This lets you assess how the paint and surface work together before starting the painting. Follow the instructions for the paints and primers you use.
Create your canvas size in three steps
- Measure and cut. Choose your painting size and measure the stretcher frame. Before cutting, add enough fabric on every side for the frame depth, wrapping and fastening.
- Stretch. Align the fabric on a suitable stretcher frame. Tension and fasten it evenly, working gradually from the centre of each side towards the corners.
- Check and paint. Check the stretched surface and, if needed, test your paint layers on an offcut. Then begin with oil or acrylic paints, following their application instructions.
Questions about the canvas roll
Is the canvas already stretched onto a frame?
No. This product is primed, unstretched cotton canvas on a roll. You cut it to your chosen size and stretch it onto a suitable frame.
How large is the roll?
The full roll is approx. 2.10 m wide and 18 m long. When cutting, allow extra fabric beyond the painting area for the frame depth and for wrapping and fastening.
Which paints can I use?
The white primed canvas is suitable for oil and acrylic paints. Try particular paint layers or additional primers on an offcut first.
How is the surface prepared?
The fabric is white, double primed with acrylic gesso and low in absorbency. It has a medium texture, is made from 100% cotton and weighs 280 g/m².
How much extra fabric should I allow when cutting?
This depends on the depth of your stretcher frame and how you will fasten the fabric. Allow enough on every side to wrap around the frame and secure it. Measure the actual frame before cutting.
How does this roll differ from the 1.83 m width?
This roll is approx. 2.10 m rather than 1.83 m wide; both rolls are 18 m long. The material, weight and priming are the same: 100% cotton, 280 g/m², a medium texture and two coats of acrylic gesso. Choose the width to suit your cuts, including the extra fabric needed for stretching.
When should I choose primed rather than raw canvas?
This roll already has a white ground made from two coats of acrylic gesso. Choose it when you want to cut and stretch your own canvas with a prepared surface for oil and acrylic painting. With raw canvas, you plan the preparation and priming to suit your painting technique.
How does a full roll differ from canvas offcuts?
A full roll lets you plan your cuts along a continuous length of fabric. Our canvas offcuts are individual pieces from ongoing production, with varying approximate dimensions. They are particularly useful for experimenting and smaller projects.
