Note the width and height of the actual sheet or object. Measure the original rather than relying on a nominal format. Keep the visible motif size separately if a border is part of the composition.

Consider the visible area

A frame edge or a possible mount can change the opening through which you see the artwork. Decide which parts of the image must remain in view before selecting a final outside size.

Think about the room
