The exhibition presents Ruth Asawa as an artist who turns the simplest materials into captivating objects. Her delicate wire sculptures sit between abstraction and figuration, between art and craft. Independent drawings accompany these sculptures and hold their own alongside them. The Fondation Beyeler develops this first European retrospective, building on an exhibition partnership linking New York's Museum of Modern Art with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
